NWS Dodge City Issues Tornado Warning Based on My Report (4-13-2015)

At about 8:15 PM CDT, one of my storm chase team members witnessed a rain wrapped tornado 5 miles north of Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Even though it was brief, it did have power flashes with some debris being kicked up. It was me embedded in some heavy rain.

The top shows Dodge City expiring the tornado warning with the bottom showing the report. Sometimes if it wasn’t for those reports, people won’t know it’s on the ground before it was too late. Very thankful that this occurred over rural areas.
