10:15AM CST Oklahoma Weather Update (12/25/2012)

A major winter storm will strengthen today as it moves across Oklahoma & North Texas. Through 12 noon CST, rain will affect southern Oklahoma, mainly south of a Wichita Falls to Coalgate line including Ardmore and Durant. Light freezing rain will occur near a Shawnee to Coalgate line including Holdenville causing light ice accumulations.

Snow and blowing snow will occur west of a Frederick to Weatherford line including Clinton, Woodward and Altus with 1 to 2 inches possible. The Oklahoma City and Lawton areas will experience mainly freezing rain switching to snow through 12 noon CST. Precipitation intensity and coverage is expect to increase later this morning. Numerous accidents have been reported in and around the Oklahoma City metro, so avoid travel if possible.
