Models keep hinting at our first major cool down of the season with an unusually strong cold front coming through OKC Friday morning. Highs in OKC on Wednesday was in the low 80s. A minor wind shift tomorrow cools highs in the low 70s.
Big front comes in Friday and Oklahoma City will see falling temps all day long. Highs on Friday likely will be set after midnight in the low 60s. Saturday will see OKC struggle to reach the lower 50s for highs. Sunday will see temps only in the mid and upper 50s in OKC. A moderating trend shows up by Monday and Tuesday with 60s for highs. Wednesday could see Highs back into the low to mid 70s in OKC.
I can’t rule out OKC seeing the first frost of the season this weekend with lows in the mid and upper 30s, but freezing temps will remain north of Oklahoma Highway 51. Upper 20s to low 30s will be seen along the northern counties in Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Panhandle.
Watch my Twitter (@okcstormwatcher) for the latest on the unseasonably cold weekend and low rain chances too. I can’t rule out showers Friday night and Saturday, but only low chances are expected.
