7:45 PM CDT Oklahoma Weather Update (9/26/2012)

Scattered showers & strong thunderstorms will continue through 9 PM around Shawnee and Seminole, down toward Calvin, Ada and Atoka. The individual storms will move slowly eastward, but the whole area of development will spread westward into the Oklahoma City Metro. Very heavy rain will be the main impacts, with hail up to the size of quarters a secondary concern.

Farther west, across much of western Oklahoma into western North Texas, scattered strong thunderstorms will develop through the evening. Additional storms over the Texas Panhandle and South Plains will also move into the body of Oklahoma and adjacent parts of North Texas. Through 10 PM, there will be a threat of large hail and damaging wind gusts along with very heavy rain. Damaging wind and heavy rain will be the primary concerns thereafter.

In addition, frequent cloud to ground lightning will occur which could start wildfires. Storms will move east and northeast through late evening and will likely become widespread.
