6:15PM CDT Oklahoma Weather Update (9/12/2012)

A cold front continued to move slowly southward into northwest Oklahoma this evening. At 6:15PM, the front extended from near Freedom to Woodward and Arnett. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible near the front as it moves through northwest Oklahoma this evening.

Ahead of the front southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph will prevail with temperatures in the 90s. As the front moves through, winds will becoming northwesterly at 15 to 25 mph with temperatures falling through the 80s into the 70s.

Although organized or widespread severe weather is not expected, a few strong thunderstorms may produce wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph and brief heavy rain. Rain chances will increase through the night over western parts of Oklahoma and North Texas as the front progresses steadily southeastward.
