515 PM CDT Oklahoma Severe Weather Update (4/29/2012)

Scattered showers and some thunderstorms will continue to develop and move across portions of central and southern Oklahoma early this evening. Some brief heavy rain will be possible with a few of the showers and storms but mostly will fall as light to moderate rain. The showers and storms are developing in a very moist unstable airmass. A few of the storms could become strong to severe this evening, with large hail and strong wind gusts the main concern. Showers and thunderstorms will remain possible overnight. These storms will pose a greater risk of large hail and perhaps damaging winds. Locally heavy rainfall is also expected, especially across the northern half of Oklahoma where the greatest storm coverage is forecast to occur through the overnight hours.
