Thunderstorms have begun to develop across far southwest Oklahoma and western North Texas early this afternoon. The airmass these storms are forming in is conducive to severe thunderstorm development and storms may become severe over the next couple of hours. At noon, developing storms extended from Hardeman down to Knox counties in western North Texas. These storms will continue to move northeastward at around 30 to 35 mph bringing lightning and heavy rains to parts of southwest Oklahoma and western North Texas through 2 PM. Additional storms are expected to develop through the afternoon from northwest Oklahoma southward into western North Texas. Given the environment, storms may rapidly become severe with the potential for large hail and damaging winds. Remain alert for severe thunderstorm development.
