830 PM Oklahoma Weather Update (3/21/2012)

Scattered showers and thunderstorms continued this evening from parts of western North Texas into central Oklahoma. At 820 PM, the precipitation was most widespread from around Alva eastward to around Stillwater and Chandler, and from Wichita Falls and Archer City eastward into Clay County. Rainfall rates were generally less than one quarter inch per hour, except for higher rainfall rates in the thunderstorms. The scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are expected overnight as an upper level low over southwest Oklahoma this evening moves slowly northeast overnight. The best chances for rain overnight will be to the north and east of the low. No severe storms are expected, however an isolated strong storm could produce small hail and gusty winds.
