345 PM CDT Oklahoma Severe Weather Update (3/18/2012)

Thunderstorms had begun to develop in West Texas. Initial development was taking place from about 40 miles west of Crowell to 40 miles southwest of Benjamin. These storms will likely strengthen as they move toward warm and unstable air that was already in place over western North Texas. Severe weather will be possible after 5 PM. Elsewhere, additional storms may develop in the Texas Panhandle, with eventual movement toward western Oklahoma early this evening.

Keep in mind that a Tornado Watch is in effect until 10:00 pm CDT for the eastern Oklahoma & Texas panhandles, far west north Texas, and the far western counties of the main body of Oklahoma. Large hail to tennis ball size, 75 mph winds and an isolated tornado are possible.
