The wind advisory is now in effect from 10 am this morning to 8 pm cst this evening for parts of western and central Oklahoma, and western north Texas.
Timing: Strong and gusty winds are expected to develop by late morning and continue through this afternoon before diminishing after sunset.
Winds: Sustained south winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts over 40 mph will be likely. As a dryline moves into Oklahoma, winds will shift to the southwest then west with gusts of 45 to 55 mph possible behind the dryline.
Impacts: Winds may result in lightweight objects being thrown around. It will also result in difficult driving conditions, especially on east west roadways during the first part of the afternoon and then by late in the day on north south roadways as the wind changes directions. Areas of blowing dust will also be possible, reducing visibilities across southwest Oklahoma and western north Texas. Use caution if you are traveling across the area.
