Wind Advisory in Effect for Oklahoma City from 10 AM to 6 PM CT Monday (2/19/2012)


…Wind Advisory in effect from 10 am to 6 pm CST Monday…

The NWS in norman has issued a wind advisory, which is in effect from 10 am to 6 pm CST Monday.

Timing: Strong, gusty winds are expected to develop by late morning and continue through Monday afternoon before diminishing around sunset.

Winds: Sustained south winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts over 40 mph will be likely. A shift to the southwest and west will occur behind a dryline with gusts of 40 and 50 mph possible.

Impacts: Winds may result in lightweight objects being thrown around Monday. It will also result in difficult driving conditions, especially on east west roadways during the first part of the afternoon and then by late in the day on north south roadways as the wind changes directions. Areas of blowing dust may also occur reducing visibilities across southwest Oklahoma and western north Texas. Use caution if you are traveling across the area on Monday.
