415 PM CT Oklahoma Weather Update: Rain Moving Into Southwestern Oklahoma (1/24/2012)

Through 6 PM, scattered light and moderate showers will continue to develop and move north across the Red River valley, with some sprinkles making it as far north as Interstate-40. At 4 PM, most of the shower activity was confined to areas near and south of Altus,  Lawton, and Duncan, with the heaviest rain and thunderstorms extending from Jacksboro and Decatur Texas, over through The Fort Worth and Dallas metroplex. This heavier rain will move northward toward Henrietta Texas, Waurika, Ardmore, and Marietta. The rain will remain fairly scattered through late afternoon and gradually become widespread this evening and overnight. All activity will move northward at about 30 mph. No severe weather is expected,  but a few of the thunderstorms will produce heavy rain and possibly some small hail. If you are traveling this evening and overnight, be prepared for a sudden reduction in visibility due to patchy heavy rain.
