10 AM CT Oklahoma Weather Update (12/9/2011)

Now This morning a modified Arctic air mass was moving into Oklahoma and Texas. The cold front along the leading edge extended from southwest Texas up to the Red River west of Marietta…and up through central and eastern Oklahoma near Stratford to Muskogee. Low pressure will form along the front in northern Texas…and this will maintain an area of low clouds and easterly winds across southern Oklahoma. The clouds will hold temperatures in the 30s or very low 40s through today…and a few sprinkles may occur around Ardmore…Ada… Durant…and Atoka. Another region of low cloud cover was seen across northern and western Oklahoma this morning. Cloud cover will advance into central and southwest Oklahoma…but it will also begin to break up over time. Regardless of the amount of sunshine…it will be a cold day… as north winds bring modified Arctic air into the region. Temperatures that were in the low 30s this morning will warm only to the upper 30s or very low 40s this afternoon.
