An area of rain continues to spread northeast across western Oklahoma and western North Texas and into central Oklahoma this evening. Rainfall rates will generally be less than one-tenth of an inch per hour although isolated locations may receive more. Farther east… areas of sprinkles… drizzle or light rain will be possible early this evening before the area of slightly heavier rain moves in. An isolated thunderstorm or two may also develop but no severe weather is expected. Additional showers and thunderstorms are developing across western Kansas and the Oklahoma and northern Texas panhandles. This area of showers and thunderstorms will move toward northwestern Oklahoma later this evening and may continue to develop southward toward west central Oklahoma. The rain is due to an upper system that is moving east across New Mexico. This system will move across the Southern Plains tonight causing the rain to spread east this evening and overnight. Otherwise… skies will remain cloudy this evening.
