545 PM Oklahoma Weather Update (10/17/2011)

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop through the early evening hours along and immediately behind a strong cold front. The front is surging quickly to the southeast…and extended from near Seymour and Wichita Falls Texas…to Duncan…Purcell… and Seminole at 530 PM. If storms develop…most of them will be south and east of these cities…with the greatest chances near and east of Ardmore…Ada…and Holdenville between 630 PM and 9 PM. If storms do develop…a few could reach severe levels and produce hail between one and two inches in diameter. Strong wind gusts…on the order of 40 to 50 mph…will also be a concern. Well north of the front…as far north as Clinton…Oklahoma City… and Stillwater…scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will still be possible this evening….although rain will be spotty and severe weather chances will be very low.
