315 PM CT Oklahoma Weather Update (10/8/2011)

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect portions of western and central Oklahoma… and western North Texas through the rest of the afternoon. A large area of rain extending from Kansas southward into southwest Texas will continue to affect parts of Oklahoma and North Texas this afternoon. This activity will mainly affect areas west of a line from Chandler and Shawnee… to Tishomingo Oklahoma. This includes all of western North Texas. This band was moving slowly east. Isolated wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be possible with the strongest storms. Rainfall rates of a third of an inch or less per hour will likely be common through late afternoon. However… a few locations may experience heavier rainfall rates. Temperatures where rain has occurred will range from the upper 50s to mid 60s for the rest of the afternoon hours. East of the rain… temperatures will continue in the 80s this afternoon. Southeast winds will range from 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph possible in some areas.
