145 PM Oklahoma Weather Update (10/8/2011)

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect portions of western and central Oklahoma… and western North Texas through mid-afternoon. A large band of rain extending from Kansas southward into southwest Texas will continue to affect parts of Oklahoma and North Texas this afternoon. This activity will mainly affect areas west of a line from Stillwater and Norman… to Pauls Valley and Marietta Oklahoma. This includes all of western North Texas. This band was moving slowly east. Isolated wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be possible with the leading edge of some of the strongest storms. Rainfall rates of a half an inch or less per hour will likely be common through mid-afternoon. However… a few locations may experience heavier rainfall rates. East of the rain… temperatures will continue in the upper 70s to mid 80s through mid-afternoon. Southeast winds will range from 15 to 25 mph with gusts over 30 mph possible in some areas.
