A strong cold front is slowly continuing southward this afternoon. Very strong north winds, along with much cooler temperatures and a chance of rain, will be associated with the frontal passage.
Wind speeds behind the front this afternoon are expected to range between 15 and 25 mph with higher gusts. Isolated showers are developing ahead of the front, but widespread rain is not expected this afternoon or this evening. A few thunderstorms will be possible through this evening, some of which may be capable of producing hail to the size of quarters and damaging wind gusts.
At 320 PM, the cold front was located near Buffalo Oklahoma. The front will move slowly during the heat of the afternoon, but its forward speed should pick up this evening. The front is expected to reach a line from Arnett to Woodward and Freedom by 5 PM. The front should reach a line from Lawton to the Oklahoma City Metro area around midnight.
