700 AM CT Oklahoma Weather Update (6/28/2011)

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms… some with strong winds hail and heavy downpours… will continue to increase over central Oklahoma through 9 am. Radar at 645 am indicated widespread strong thunderstorms over northwestern Oklahoma… from around Seiling to Canton to Watonga to Kingfisher to Cashion. Heavy thunderstorms also were widespread from Weatherford to around Hinton and Binger. Showers and thunderstorms also were increasing rapidly across much of central Oklahoma… from Oklahoma City south toward Norman and Blanchard. The area of storms was moving southeast at around 30 mph. The strongest storms will be capable of producing very heavy downpours… strong gusty winds… small hail… and frequent cloud to ground lightning. An isolated severe storm… with hail to the size of quarters… will be possible. Despite recent dry conditions… very heavy rain in a short period of time will lead to localized flooding in poor drainage areas this morning.
