200 PM CT Oklahoma Weather Update (6/23/2011)

Early this afternoon…a warm front was draped across northern Oklahoma…extending from Tulsa to Stillwater to Fairview and LaVerne. Some mid level moisture had given rise to a few showers early in the day…but all that remained was this cloud cover and a few sprinkles. Temperatures were hot…ranging from the low 90s north of the front…to the upper 90s in central and southeast Oklahoma…and more than 100 degrees farther southwest. People should respect the heat. Drink water and stay out of direct sunlight when the sun is high overhead…through about 6 or 7 PM. At 2 PM…temperatures ranged from 101 to 103 degrees in most of southwest Oklahoma and western North Texas. Humidity was very low throughout the region…and southwesterly winds will become breezy this afternoon… resulting in elevated wildfire potential. Winds will gust to around 25 mph west of a line from Woodward to Clinton Oklahoma to Vernon Texas
