Strong to severe thunderstorms continue to develop this evening from north central Oklahoma into western North Texas. The storms were most widespread from the Oklahoma City Metro area northward to the Kansas line north of Ponca City. Farther to the south…storm were more widely scattered from south central Oklahoma into North Texas southeast of Wichita Falls. The strongest storms were capable of producing Golf Ball size or larger hail and wind gusts in excess of 60 mph. The storms are developing in the vicinity of a cold front and dryline. At 830 PM…the front extended from near Blackwell… to El Reno… to near Crowell Texas and was moving southeast. The dryline extended from near Anadarko to near Seymour Texas and had become nearly stationary. A nearly solid line of storms will continue to move across northern Oklahoma this evening…with storms from central Oklahoma southward into North Texas becoming more widespread as the front moves into those areas. The main threat from these storms will continue to be large hail and damaging winds.
