515 PM Oklahoma Weather Update (6/12/2011)

A low chance of isolated thunderstorms will exist near and northeast of a line approximately from Cherokee to Stillwater through 8 PM. Should a thunderstorm develop… it may quickly become severe. At 5 PM… a warm front extended from Waynoka… to around Guthrie… to near Seminole and McAlester. The warm front will continue northward through the remainder of the afternoon and evening… with thunderstorm chances dropping to near zero to the south of the front. Temperatures will likely remain in the upper 80s to the lower 90s behind the front through 8 PM. North of the warm front… temperatures will be a little cooler but greater moisture will produce very warm and humid conditions. Atmospheric winds and humidity are favorable for severe thunderstorms near and north of the warm front. However… a strong cap will likely keep thunderstorms suppressed this evening. Winds will be gusty from the south through southeast on both sides of the front.
