1000 PM CT Oklahoma Weather Update (6/10/2011)

Strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail will affect portions of western North Texas and southwest Oklahoma through 1030 PM. Isolated thunderstorms will continue to be possible from around Calumet… to Edmond… to Chandler. This evening… thunderstorm outflow has made the position of the cold front stretched across Oklahoma and western North Texas difficult to determine. The front is approximately located between Ponca City… Kingfisher… Clinton… Mangum… to Vernon and Seymour Texas. The approach of an upper level storm system may sustain thunderstorm activity into the early morning hours…. though an overall decrease in intensity has been noted since 9 PM. A few storms this evening may still be capable of producing damaging wind gusts to 75 mph…with large hail a secondary threat. Severe thunderstorm watches are in effect for much of western North Texas… as well as southwest… west central… and portions of northern and central Oklahoma for the remainder of the evening.
