3:00 PM Oklahoma Weather Update (5/1/2011)

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect areas mainly along and east of the Interstate 35 corridor into the early evening hours. Some of the storms may become strong producing small hail and gusty winds. Otherwise… hourly rainfall amounts of around a tenth of an inch or less will occur with most of the activity. However… higher amounts will be possible with the thunderstorms. Although conditions at the surface remain cool…an unstable Gulf air mass was in place above the ground. An upper level trough approaching from the west will continue to provide lift for shower and thunderstorm development. Gusty northeast winds will feel cool…with temperatures mainly in the 40s and 50s.
