1245 PM Oklahoma Weather Update

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop this afternoon across Oklahoma and western North Texas. The main focus for thunderstorm development will be a stationary front located across portions of southeast Oklahoma early this afternoon. To the south of this front a very unstable airmass will reside. Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to be possible… mainly south and east of a line from Ardmore to Ada and Holdenville. These storms will be capable of producing large hail… gusty winds and even an isolated tornado. To the north of the front… cooler and more stable conditions will exist… however there will be sufficient elevated instability for a few strong storms to develop during the afternoon and early evening hours.

  1. Were there any tornados near Ardmore on Monday afternoon, 4/25/11? We were driving to Dallas from Kansas, and we thought we saw two funnels begin to develop right in front of us in the heaviest part of the storm near Ardmore. The first had no rotation, and the second appeared to begin to rotate. We began to get hail after we had passed it.
