Flood Watches Posted for Northeastern Oklahoma & Northwestern Arkansas

Areas from Tulsa northeastward could see flash flooding in the next couple of days, if conditions are right. Here is the bulletin from NWS Tulsa concerning what could be a life-threatening situation.

… Flash Flood Watch in effect through Monday evening…

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of Arkansas and Oklahoma…
including the following areas… in Arkansas… Benton… Carroll… Crawford… Franklin… Madison… Sebastian and
Washington. In Oklahoma… Adair… Cherokee… Craig… Delaware… Haskell… Mayes… Muskogee… Nowata… Ottawa…
Rogers… Sequoyah… Tulsa… Wagoner and Washington.

Impacts: A series of upper disturbances… in conjunction with a stationary front positioned across the area will bring several rounds of heavy rainfall to the area over the next few days. Rainfall totals will increase quickly in areas with slow moving storms or training of cells.

Precautionary/preparedness actions: A Flash Flood Watch means rapidly rising water or flooding is possible within the watch area.

Keep in mind that most flood related deaths occur in automobiles and flooding is the leading cause of weather related deaths. Be safe, turn around, don’t drown.
