9:15 PM Oklahoma Weather Update

Severe thunderstorms capable of producing very large
hail…damaging  wind gusts… and isolated tornadoes will be
maintained through this  evening. At 9 PM…a nearly stationary
frontal boundary stretched from near  Altus… to Lawton…to
Chandler. Outflow from a line of  thunderstorms in south central
Oklahoma interrupted the continuity  of the front…pushing the
effective boundary back north from  Chandler…to Moore…to
Chickasha. A dryline stretched from near  Lawton southwest to
Vernon and Crowell Texas. Thunderstorms were  ongoing across
south central Oklahoma from near Marlow… through  Pauls Valley
and Ada. Storms were also affecting areas near Walters  and
Waurika in southwestern Oklahoma. Through the remainder of this
evening…. thunderstorms are expected  to push slowly
southeast. A threat of very large hail will continue  through at
least midnight…while development of a low level jet  will cause
an isolated tornado threat to persist. Flash flooding is
likely occurring in the Maysville…Paoli…Byars…and Wayne
areas  of Garvin and McClain County…and a flash flood threat
will  accompany the thunderstorms as they shift to the
southeast. Thunderstorm activity is forecast to decrease in intensity
after  midnight…and may decrease in coverage as well.
