Damaging Hail Hits the Fort Worth/Dallas Metroplex


Reports are coming in that large, damaging hail is hitting the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Severe thunderstorm warnings for hail is excess of 3 inches in diameter have been in effect for more than an hour now. Below is the radar presentation out of Dallas/Fort Worth as of 5:40 pm CT.

Baseball sized hail was reported around 5:20 pm at Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport. Here is the weather statements these storms near Dallas & Fort Worth. Storm chasers from TXStormChasers have been following this cell as well, as they too reported baseball sized hail in this storm.

A TORNADO WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1000 PM FOR THIS AREA.

5:50 pm CT: Golfball sized hail was reported at I-20 and Bryan-Irvin in southwest sections of Ft. Worth, TX

5:57 pm CT: Sirens were going off in Arlington, TX. Most likely this was due because of huge larger than golfball sized hail.

An extension of the severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 628 pm CT: The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for: Dallas County in north central Texas, southeastern Tarrant County in north central Texas until 730 PM CDT

* at 627 PM CDT… National Weather Service meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail… and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located 3 miles northeast of Duncanville… and moving east at 25 mph.
