Large Destructive Tornado in Selma, Benson & Four Oaks, NC (4/16/2011)


While the Raleigh tornado is still ongoing, a second large violent tornado has been hitting near the Selma/Benson/Four Oaks area in North Carolina.

As of 4:52 pm ET, this tornado was near Smithfield, NC. Debris has been reported near the hospital in Smithfield with this storm. By 5:30 pm, this tornado could be close to Wilson, NC. Also a potential fatality with this tornado has been reported.

4:55 pm ET: Debris was seen near Selma, NC. A new circulation was developing with new tornado formation near Micro, NC.

5:18 pm ET: Large tornado is on the ground just SW of Wilson, NC.

5:23 pm ET: Large tornado raked NW sides of Wilson, NC. Radar image of the Wilson, NC storm.

5:40 pm ET: Damaged from a Food Lion in Dunn, NC. Also reports of numerous cars flipped and overturned in Wilson, NC. Lacoma reported with numerous homes damaged & cars damaged as well.
