Tornado Warnings for Areas Near Birmingham, AL (4/15/2011)


The Tuscaloosa tornado warned storm that has caused an extensive amount of damage on the south and east side of the Tuscaloosa metro area and areas around Brentwood & West Blocton, AL is heading toward the south side of Birmingham. Areas near Alabaster, Pelham and areas of Shelby and Jefferson Counties. If you live in Birmingham, big heads up. Here is the latest statement on this storm.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Tornado Warning for…
northeastern Bibb County in central Alabama…
southeastern Jefferson County in central Alabama…
Shelby County in central Alabama…

* until 530 PM CDT

* at 424 PM CDT… the National Weather Service was tracking a
confirmed tornado 5 miles south of West Blocton… or 7 miles north
of Centreville. Doppler radar showed this tornado moving northeast
at 45 mph.

At 425 PM CDT… trees were reported down in Eoline.

* Locations impacted include…
Montevallo… Alabaster… Helena… Pelham… Hoover… Vestavia
Hills… Homewood… Chelsea… Mountain Brook and Irondale.
