545 PM Nowcast for Central Oklahoma

Around 520 PM…surface observations indicated a dryline extending from near Ripley to Wellston to Slaughterville to Ringling. The dryline was pushing to the east across portions of north central Oklahoma. Further south however..the dryline was becoming nearly stationary. Heating and an increase in Gulf moisture has resulted in moderate instability east of the dryline. Severe thunderstorms were ongoing across northern Pottawatomie and Seminole counties in east central Oklahoma. Further south..severe thunderstorms were occurring in Carter…extreme eastern Murray..Johnston and southern Pontotoc counties. Thunderstorms will continue to intensity and move towards the east northeast late this afternoon and into the evening hours ahead of the dryline. With strong shear and sufficient instability in place…most storms will become severe quickly and will have the potential to produce very large hail…strong damaging winds and tornadoes
