Fire Weather Watches in Effect for Western Oklahoma & Oklahoma Panhandles for Friday


The stage continues to elevated to severe wildfire fire conditions in most of western & southwestern Oklahoma & the Oklahoma panhandles as well for Friday. Some areas in southwestern have not seen any rain since the end of February! Here is the latest from the National Weather Service explaining this situation. I really hope the governor’s office considers a statewide burn ban soon as drought conditions continue to be extreme & borderline on the exceptional side.

Friday evening for western Oklahoma…

* Winds… southwest 20 to 25 mph with gusts over 35 mph.
* Humidity… 15 to 20 percent.
* Temperature… upper 80s.
* Impacts… any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is discouraged.

Precautionary/preparedness actions… Fires may start easily and spread rapidly. Take precautions to avoid the start and spread of wildfires. Report smoke or fire to your local Fire Department. Monitor weather forecasts and information.
