Nowcast for Oklahoma City/Dryline Update

A dryline positioned between Alva, Cheyenne & Hollis Oklahoma and Childress Texas at 1 PM is forecast to move to a line from Cherokee to Clinton to Vernon and Seymour Texas by 3 PM.

To the west of the dryline, westerly winds from 25 to 35 mph with higher gusts will occur along with temperatures in the 90s and relative humidity below 15 percent. Extreme wildfire potential will exist west of the dryline throughout the afternoon and into the early evening.

East of the dryline, winds will be from more of a southerly direction but will still be strong in the 20 to 30 mph range. Greater low level moisture content will be present east of the dryline but wildfire potential will still be very high.

Caution should be taken to prevent the ignition and spread of outdoor fires this afternoon across the entire area.
